Sugarloaf

Pemberton, BC

4,800 square feet of precision craft with Mount Currie as the backdrop

Sugarloaf is a 4,800-square-foot custom home in Pemberton that brings together some of the Sea to Sky's most respected design and building professionals. Designed by Stark Architecture with structural engineering by Tash Engineering, the home was conceived as a direct response to its site — a property that looks straight at Mount Currie with world-class mountain bike trails just minutes from the front door.

The architecture makes the most of this setting through floor-to-ceiling Innotech window systems that dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior. From the main living spaces, the mountain fills the frame entirely — not as a distant backdrop, but as an immersive, ever-changing presence that shifts with the seasons and the light. The open floor plan channels sightlines through the home so that the landscape is never more than a glance away.

Inside, interior designer Britt Lothrop brought a material palette that balances warmth with restraint. Blueprint Millwork executed the custom cabinetry and built-in elements with the kind of precision that a home of this calibre demands — tight reveals, seamless transitions, and details that reward close inspection. The millwork runs throughout the home, tying the kitchen, living areas, and private spaces into a cohesive whole.

The construction itself was a study in coordination. Managing a project with this many specialized consultants and trades requires a builder who can hold the vision together while keeping the build on track. The Balmoral team delivered Sugarloaf with the same hands-on approach that defines every project — present on site, accountable for every detail, and committed to a result that stands up to the landscape it sits within.
